The long wait for Phish dates ended yesterday with the announcement of a 25 date summer tour spanning from the July 3 through September 1. Scotty B posted his always thorough review of all the dates and venues over at Hidden Track. We jumped on the mics last night to give you some quick thoughts on the tour. You can tell that this episode was unplanned because Toonces doesn’t even get in on the action until half way through. Thanks to the chat room for playing along at home, as always. Let us know your thoughts on this tour/what the rest of the year holds for Phish and what shows we will find you at here on the blog or on our Facebook or Twitter. Don’t forget to submit your PTBM requests and stay tuned for a full TWoL episode in the next week or so.
TWoL was back at Camp Bisco officially for the second year in a row, and we covered as much ground as a 2.5 person team could. 2 of us, Noob Laura and I, were paired up on site, talking to vendors, taking pictures, and catching as many sets as humanly possible. The “.5″ in the equation is Wade Wilby, who takes the guest spot on this week’s show. He was on site all 3 nights, while we couldn’t make it till Friday night. I had hoped to record the show live backstage, but bandwidth and sound issues would have made for a sub-par episode, IMHO (both AT&T & Verizon had horrible reception, plus there was a generator near the mobile studio unit). But not to fear, it probably worked out better since we all had time to collect our thoughts and discuss this amazing event a few days after the untz settled.
I always hate to give too much away on the blog post, but I’ll mention a few things since we have time. Very impressed that the festival sold out, with an estimated attendance of 25k. The grounds were able to handle this size crowd, however, it seemed the masses may have taken ILCC by surprise. There were reports of major traffic issues, people abandoning cars, and ticketless fans outside the gate. We only mention this as a word of caution for next year: Buy your ticket early, don’t show up without one, be patient in line, and cooperate with the staff when entering the site. If we all prepare for a sell out crowd next year, I would bet the entire process goes much smoother. Besides that, party safe, respect others, and leave the lasers pointers at home (the band has it covered).
In the end, all 3 of us agreed that Camp Bisco has grown “beyond the biscuits”, which is not a negative in any way. It is a party, a really well put on party. There were no incidents of violence. No reports of Nitrous. And no police intervention that we know of. This is quite remarkable when you have a crowd of 25,000 no matter who the band(s) is(are). If you want to dance, stay up late, and like seeing a MacBook on stage, this is the place for you. This is why we come each year (well, Wade and I do like Bisco .
Feel free to share your Camp experience via our hotline 419-669-6657, and we can play it on a future episode. Or, leave a comment below, it’s all good. As a bonus, we have added photos to this special report. There is a mix of crowd and artist shots, which we hope you will enjoy.
Nick, Noob Laura, Toonces and myself were at Super Ball IX from Thursday night straight through Sunday afternoon “raging it proper”. In that time, we didn’t miss a note of music, checked out all the fun art installations, and squeezed in 2 mini episodes to give you guys our thoughts and perspective on Phish’s 9th festival. And since we had the luxury of WORKING CELL RECEPTION, we were able to record live video casts. Below we have links to both episodes in various formats, and a few pictures that I snapped.
It was nice to meet some listeners this weekend, thanks for tuning in.
Stephen T, Noob Laura and myself hit up all 3 nights of Phish at Bethel Woods. We had hoped to set up on lot, but unfortunately couldn’t pull it off this time. So we did the next best thing, and sat down at the hotel on Sunday to discuss our thoughts up through the first 2 nights. We are happy to report that the whole experience was an overall success. Not much drama was seen, locals were welcoming, and the weather was on our side. Without a doubt, we hope to see Phish return here, and that it stays a 3 night run stop.
Don’t forget to send us in your stories, whether it be about the lot, your campsite, or the locals selling BBQ on the side of the road. Hit us up on the usual number, 419-NO-WOOKS. (419-669-6657)
This past Sunday, TWoL set up the studio live on site at the Rock and Roll Resort in Kerhonkson NY to bring you a special report about this unique festival. I was joined by our own “Noob Laura”, and friend of the show PhanArt Pete. The 3 of us took some time on the final day to run down what we did and did not like. With so many bands on the bill, and a lot of ground to cover at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa, it was rare to find us in the same space for any length of time. Fortunately, since we were together during the recording, we can offer both a video and audio recording of the show. And as usual, I snapped some pictures from the weekend which you can find below.
Were you among the few hundred who attended this event? Let us know with a voicemail (419-NO-WOOKS) or a comment below.
Here we have a quick episode to wrap up the MSG coverage. We talk about what we saw on lot, on the Pay Per View, and everything in between. Most importantly, we snagged an extra “foam meatstick” to give away. These are a hot item, already going on eBay for upwards of 60 bones. If you want to win one, it’s simple. Just leave a comment on the blog here telling us about your NYE, or, leave us a voice mail to the same effect, 419-NO-WOOKS. We will pick whatever story we like (perhaps randomly , and ship one off to the winner. Being that it is a new year, any of our listeners are eligible. The only ones who can’t win are TWoL hosts and their respective families. Contest ends at the start of the next episode.
We hope everyone had a great holiday season, and we will see you next week with a “Year in Review” episode. Thanks to everyone who made our holiday run so special, including “Toonces” for the NYE stub down, N8Dizzle for the Starr Hill, and Whipped Lightning for countless hours of shenanigans.
Yet another Phish Holiday Tour update. This time, It’s Steve (Roughsax) and Steve (UNOlker). Unfortunately Nick or Emilie couldn’t make it. We give the rundown of everything since this last update in Woosta. Some tiny show reviews, Ticket Checks, and Holiday cheer. This show is available in both video and audio.Happy New Year to all our listeners, thanks for tuning in, we will see you guys in 2011.
Taped on location at our hotel in Auburn MA, Emilie and I give a quick rundown of our first 24 hours in Woosta. We give a minimal lot report, a mini show review, a ticket check, and even some shots of Whipped Lightning. Since this show was “in studio”, we ran the video camera, but unfortunately, it ends abruptly after the first 10 minutes.
Expect another report on 12/30. In the meantime, stay up to date via our twitter account.
As most of you are probably aware of at this time, Phish will be providing a Pay Per View experience for their sold out shows at MSG on 12/30, 12/31, and 1/1. This privilege will cost the viewer $15/$20 per night, or $40 for the bundle of all 3 nights. There has been a lot of chatter the past few days, some for, some against the PPV. Despite being on hiatus this week, hosts of both shows, This Week on Lot and Type II Cast, felt the need to discuss for a few minutes.
The panel this week includes Steve and Nick form TWoL, and Tanya and Eric from Type II.
This week, the debate over the h3ttiness of Time Turns Elastic is played out between Tyler “The Training Brah” Curtis and Mr. Jed Luckless. You will have to listen to find out what happens and who wins. Enjoy.
Steve here everyone, and today I spoke with 2 of our “lot reporters” on the scene live at GOTV. Meredith and “Toonces” check in with us, and give a break down of the scene, bands they like, and all the fun happenings that is vibes. Both are veterans of GOTV, and have been raging 24/7 since they got there on Thursday. We appreciate them taking the time out to speak with TWoL so we can all get a glimpse of this major northeast festival.
All the details are in the episode, but I will give you this spoiler: “Go to the Vibes next year!”

Hey guys, here is a special lot report, recorded in front of a live studio audience on the Hartford VIP lot, 6/18/2010. We talk all things lot, what was happening at Hartford, and what we suspect in SPAC. It’s funny, it’s informative, it’s TWoL.

Well kidz, it’s time for another contest. Our last one, episode 8.75, was a huge success. This time around, we are going BALLER!!! Up for grabs is a 2 night travel package for Phish at Alpine Valley, August 14-15, 2010. This deal can not be beat, and has been donated to us by CID Entertainment. Lodging, shuttle, t-shirts, and LP downloads are all included. Plus, you get to choose from 2 h33ty hotels, the Timber Ridge Lodge and the Grand Geneva Hotel. Please note, tickets are not included, but as Steve reported last year, they were real easy to come by (eg: like toilet paper).
How do you win? We want to hear a good lot story. Anything and everything goes. Phish lot, Dead lot, hell . . . even DMB lot. It can be about a good time with your boys, how you made bank selling grilled cheese, how you met your significant other on tour, or how you scored a ride home from a stranger. To make things interesting, we are giving you 3 ways to enter, and you can enter each way. (that’s 3 chances to win, different stories of course).
You can enter via:
1) Comment on this post. Just leave a comment with your story, we will read on the air if it grabs our attention.
2) Voice mail. You know the number; 419-NO-WOOKS. Call us and leave you story in audio form. Of course we will play on the air.
3) Email. Send an email with your story. Again, if you make it on the air, that’s a good sign.
The fine print: Contest starts as of this post and runs until June 1st at midnight EDT. Winners will be announced on Episode 33, scheduled for June 6. Judges will be the hosts of TWoL, and 2 celebrity guests, TBD. Winner will be contacted and given the choice of which package they would like. In addition to the CID travel package, they will also be offered a guest spot on TWoL. A runner up prize will be offered, which is a guest spot on TWoL and a beer on lot by any of the hosts.
Super fine print: No hosts of TWoL or prior guests, or their families, may win either of the prizes. Best lot story is at the sole discretion of the hosts and the 2 celebrity judges. Offer void where prohibited (that means you Canada). This contest is being run by TWoL, donated by CID and is not endorsed by Phish. Promotional consideration provided by RunawayJim.org.
Good luck to everyone and we can wait to hear your best lot story.
P.S. – Make sure to listen to this mini-episode about the contest. We might give clues on how to win
As we’ve made mention in the past couple of episodes we’re giving away 2 tickets to the Phish MSG show on Friday December 4th in NYC. We just wanted to say thank you to all of our listeners and we appreciate your support! To find out details of the contest you’ll need to listen to our mini episode.
Thank you again everyone for the support and good luck to you all!
Just like noob corner, we got a mini-episode here to hold you over till Sunday.
First up, in honor of the number 9, 9 everyday wookings you need to look out for. These are some serious wookings we urge you all to steer clear of.
Next up, we discuss an all to current phenomenon on lot, “when phans go wook”. This unfortunate situation occurs when a normal, good nature phan gets to schwilly and ends up “wooking out”. We have a jaw-dropper of a story for you that took place at SPAC lot in august. Think you have a better story? Leave us a voice mail or an email describing a time you or a friend went wook. We are going to pick a winner in 2 weeks and send them a prize. For reals, an actual prize.(contest not applicable to actually wooks)
Enjoy the rest of your week kids, see you on Sunday.
This is a quick segment to showcase the kind of stuff we will be doing in each episode. Let us know any topics or news stories you would like covered. Feel free to email or or leave us a voice mail. Contact info on the right.
