Episode 83: This Week on Jambase (TWoJ)

Listen to Episode 83

Different day, different time, different location, different name. This week’s episode broke all the rules. JamBase founder Andy Gadiel was kind enough to have Nick and Emilie join him at their San Fransisco offices on the afternoon before the 3 of them would be heading to the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. We were short on time this week, but not on topics and voicemails. Starting off with a review of Phish at the Hollywood Bowl and Tahoe, we got in 2 voicemails, and then ended with predictions and thoughts on Outside Lands.  Simple and straight forward on 83. There were few more voicemails we recieved, and some news stories we wanted to cover, but both will have to be shelved till next Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in live. Be sure to follow us on social media throughout the weekend. Nick will be reporting on Outside Lands, while I’ll be at the 28th Annual Roots of American Music Festival in NYC on Saturday, then the Identity Fest at PNC (New Jersey) on Sunday.

Thanks for listening,

Steve

TWoL 21: Oops we forgot…

We apologize for the delay in getting you an episode Steve was overcome with the wook flu last week and we were unable to get an episode up. However, I think this weeks episode definitely makes up for the delay.

Our guest this week is Andy Gadiel from Jambase.com and Andy Gadiel’s Phish Page. Andy gives us a rundown about how he got started with Jambase and the history of his personal Phish page. A word of advice, always volunteer at a music festival, it just might change your life.

Next up we talk about the shows we’ve attended in the last 2 weeks and what was happening in the lot scenes. All 3 of us made it to a recent show although some of the shows were better than others. Steve also chimes in about what’s “grinding his gears” wait till you hear how much he paid for a single beer.

Rumors, what would the intrawebz be without them? Phish is not so much “rumored” to be playing Telluride in Colorado as it’s been in the local news. Also heavily rumored is that Phish might be playing at Wrigley Field in Chicago on June 1st Andy certainly hopes so as he originally hails from the windy city and the rumored date is on the eve of his birthday.

The Disco Biscuits Camp Bisco has been announced and Steve is excited for the lineup. We find out that Andy actually attended the very first Camp Bisco and has some fond memories. Also make sure to check out Honest Tunes Radio Show , they’ll be interviewing Tea Leaf Green soon.

Speaking of history, yesterday was the one year anniversary of the return of Phish. This was also the same weekend that Nick first met Noob Laura in person. Happy Anniversary to Phish and Happy Anniversary to the This Week on Lot original crew.

Hope everyone enjoys this episode, we’re hoping to have Andy back on again soon to give us a live “lot” report from SXSW.

TWoL 16: People on Land Just Don’t Understand

**Editor’s Note** We apologize for the echo from Olker on the second half of the podcast. We’re not sure if he decided to broadcast from a cave or if his interview with our special guest inspired him to add some reverb to the podcast. Either way, sorry! We’ll try not to let it happen again!**

What do you get when you mix costumes, jam bands, a bunch of hippies, and a giant boat? Oh yea, and sock puppets? Jam Cruise! Our good friend Neil from Coventry Phish & Music Blog was luck enough to set sail this year and he made it back to dry land to tell us all about it. Steve waxes poetic about his Jam Cruise experience, leaving the rest of the TWoL crew to wonder why the hell we didn’t go this year.

We have an AMAZING interview lined up for the break. We still can’t believe we were able to sit down with this person for such an in depth interview!

After the break, the crew gives their recommendations for the 2010 festival season. We’re going with Wakarusa, Desert Rocks, and Delfest this year. Where will you be? Check out all your festie options on Jambase, where they’re conveniently organized them all into great regional lists.

After a quick ticket check, where Steve is man enough to admit when he’s wrong (Trey tour is selling out!), we hear from our good friend Nick in Ohio about the worst state in the country for live music and how he’s hosting us at GratefulFest this year. Right Nick!?

Check it out! We went an entire episode without mentioning Phish!
