And just like that, YEMSG is over. But we still wanna talk about it. This week, Steve, Katie and Toonces tackle some hard hitting news topics: the ticket situation, the rainbow unicorn army, new MSG layout and security, train tacos, and other stuff that also happened. Musically this may have not been the best run of the year, but the MSG party never disappoints.
Thanks to the listeners who called in from Phish, moe., and STS9. We still wanna hear about all the other NYE shows across the land. It’s never to late to call in a lot report at 419.NO.WOOKS.
In other news, Phil Lesh finally found a home for his ramble style Terrapin Crossroads. The first performances are scheduled for March 2012. Road trip anyone??
Led Zeppelin cover band extraordinaire Bustle in Your Hedgerow returns to Brooklyn Bowl on January 26th and 27th. Featuring Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz, Scott Metzger and Joe Russo, this is a Brooklyn tradition not to be missed!
And finally, Jam Cruise anticipation has reached fever pitch! Steve and Noob Laura sail this Monday so stay tuned for updates and special reports from the boat.
Happy 2012 everyone! Here’s to a ragin’ and music filled year!
This week we had one-half of the duo who are responsible for CashorTrade.org and LiveMusicMatch.com, welcome Brando! Make sure to check out Cash or Trade if you need/have a ticket for face or want to sell, that’s the place to go. If you’re interesting in meet a love interest or just making friends that are into the jamband scene then check out Live Music Match.
Big news of the week is that Ticketmaster and Facebook struck a deal. They are now offering a social experience where you can see what tickets your friends have already purchased. If the show isn’t sold out this could be kind of cool, the TWoL crew is on the fence on this one.
In untz news The Disco Biscuits are hitting up Vegas after the Identity festival. Will Nick go and get his untz on? Will he finally accept the flatbrims for who they are? Only time will tell.
moe. announced a few shows in New York near Thanksgiving. They will be throwing down with Dumpstahphunk opening up for them. Should be a great time!
To end our Phish coverage for the 3rd leg ( and maybe for the year) there will be a webcast this weekend of the Colorado shows. You can buy each night individually or a 3 night package. Kind of interesting that they are offering this webcast, it’s the first time they’ve done so for shows that aren’t sold out.
We’re a little sad here at TWoL, we didn’t receive any voicemails this week. What’s with that??? Make sure if you’re out and about this weekend at the Colorado Phish shows or any show in general you leave us a lot report.
Thanks everyone for your support, we’ll see you next week on lot!
Phish Fall Tour 2010 is in full swing and so are the setlists and lot scenes! Utica seems to be the hit show so far but as I’m typing this the Manchester setlist is rolling in and it sounds like we might have a new leader.
Everyone is getting pumped up for the Halloween weekend and the TWoL crew is no exception. All 3 of us will be at the AC run and we plan on throwing down with the best of ‘em! Of course… come to our meet-up.
Steve managed to hit up a few shows this tour, some tickets were tougher than you would think. Our advice for Phish 3.0 Fall Tour = if it’s a weekend show make sure you get a ticket ahead of time. Oh and whatever you do take care of your shoes.
In non Phish news, unfortunately moe. had to cancel their October 30th show due to some personal family issues. We wish them all the best and hope everything turns out ok. They have rescheduled the show for December 4th. For more details on the announcement check this link out.
We received a TON of voicemails this week and we played every single one on this episode. Thank you for everyone who left one, keep them coming! Don’t forget we will randomly select a few people who leave voicemails to win a copy of Touropoly! Thank you again to Touropoly for being this months sponsor!
We appreciate all of our fans, thank you for your support! We’ll see you this weekend in AC!
TWoL is back up and running after the brief hiatus occurred when all of Steve’s equipment was wook’d. We’re glad to say that we came back better than ever and with the new equipment the sound is even better. Thank you to everyone that gave us a h3tty kickdown on the cost of the stolen equipment.
A lot is going on this week so let’s get started! First up we talk about the Phish Fall Tour ticket onsales. I guess you can’t say it went “exactly” as planned. For some reason at the time of this blog post the first Phish show in NH in years and years isn’t sold out as well as the first night in Charleston?!? Obvious other shows were instant sellouts such as the smallest venue on tour, Utica, Broomfield and the 3 night Halloween run in Atlantic City.
Gordo announced his tour which to the delight of many a Phish phan starts right after the Halloween run and begins on the west coast. He does a nice run up the west coast, through the midwest and ends back Boston just in time for Thanksgiving.
TAB at the TAB was announced for release as a live album with the first 500 pre-orders getting their copy signed! Steve’s memory gets a little hazy when we talk about this show, was he there or wasn’t he? You have to listen to find out.
New Years Eve shows are being announced like crazy right now. You can see a full list of what’s been announced so far here. Some notables are YMSB in St. Louis, moe. in Boston, Umphrey’s McGee in Chicago, and Paul Anka in Naples, FL. ; )
As always to end the show we take a listen to your voicemails and Steve gives a quick lot report and untz report from his recent endeavor to see Bisco this last weekend. The untz was so epic that he is still trying to recover 3 days later.
Thank you everyone for your support, we’ll see you next week on lot!
After a few weeks on Phish tour and at High Sierra Music Festival the entire crew of TWoL is back for this episode! Emilie has been going nonstop since June 17th wooking it up with the best of them and has tales of tour from coast to coast.
We have a review of all the Phish lots we’ve been to since the last time we left our listeners at Merriweather. There were a lot of wooks, even more cops, some serious bust outs from the band, and Steve learns that luke warm wine from a bag doesn’t sell well on the lot. Just goes to show there’s always a lesson on the lot.
We received a TON of voicemails since our last full episode and we appreciate everyone leaving us amazing lot reports. There was so many we couldn’t get to all of them but we tried to bring you the best of the best. Looks like a lot of folks from Phish tour left us messages as well as some from Furthur. Keep them coming!
Last but not least we try out a new segment on the show reviewing a random search term people used to find our blog. We’re not exactly sure how the googles navigated people to our site from this term and even what the person really meant. You be the judge!
Thanks again to PhanArt for sponsoring us this month and to everyone who left voicemails. We’ll be announcing the random winner of the PhanArt package giveaway next week. Until then see you on the lot!
This week we keep it local and have a special guest, Ian, from the Las Vegas Jam Band Society. We “kangfirm” a few things too, like the fact that none of us are going to be able to attend any of the shows that were announced this week including the return of SCI.
The announcement for Bonnaroo is scheduled for Feb 9th 2010 but we have some breaking news about an album that’s going to be covered. That’s right, you heard it first on TWoL!
For all the European fans of TWoL we’ve got a special tour annoucement from Jack Johnson apparently he’s having a few shows in Hawaii and then doing some serious traveling abroad. He’s also annoucning a tour for all you “chad bro chills” too. ; )
Finally listen as Steve takes his lumps on his prediction of ticket sales for trey tour. I mean it’s pretty ridiculous that no one would want to go to Minneapolis in the middle of winter right? TWoL is calling it right now, the MIN show is going to be the sleeper show of Trey Tour.
Take a listen to the episode and find out more about all things kangfirmed.
Even though Trey told us to cool out until next Summer, we’re all still buzzing about Phish and the crazy year that was 2009. We just can’t get enough. So to keep us warm and cozy through the next 5 (or 6?!) months of bleek non-Phish existence, our good friend @EricWyman put together an amazing playlist of the Best Jams of 2009. With the help of nearly everyone on Twitter, Eric collected votes on the best jams (or songs) from all three tours, Hampton, Fest 8, and New Years. There was so much to choose from but the votes made it pretty clear which jams were the best of the best. Listen to hear which jam reigned supreme over the goodness that was 2009. Granted, you can’t really ever boil it down to just one song, right? So Eric and friends put together over 7 hours of amazing Phish for our listening pleasure. For all you cubicle monkeys, you can start this playlist first thing in the morning and rock out your entire shift at work. Not that you don’t do that already, we’re sure…
You can stream or download the entire playlist and let us know what you think. Also, check out the votes from the twitter and phish.net community. Anything on there you agree or disagree with?
Still looking back fondly at 2009, we address the best and worst lots of the year. We unanimously agree on the worst of the year. We’ll give you one hint: our personal space was definitely invaded and we did not enjoy it. The best lot? We all disagree but that’s a good thing, right? If the overall lot scene of 2009 was good, then win for all of us!
After the break, we look ahead at the multitude of tours in the next few months. It seems every jam band is on the road and is coming to your town (yea, even to Iowa). We have the Trey Anastasio Band sticking pretty close to the east coast, not showing any love to the west coast fans much to Nick’s dismay. It’s great to have our beloved ginger back on the road, but do the tickets need to cost so damn much? It’s because he’s bringing the horns, isn’t it? If you’ve had enough ginger in your life, you could always join Laura and Steve on the Disco Biscuits tour. Again, Brownie and the band are staying primarily on the east coast, with the exception of 4 dates in Denver and Bisco Inferno in May. This tour is going to be HOT and we can’t wait. And if that wasn’t enough for you, moe. is practically going everywhere in the next few months. Everywhere. And somehow they seem to be the first band to cater to their visual learning fans and put up a pretty sweet moe.map on their website. Check ‘em out. Need more options? How about Umphrey’s, Galactic, or Tea Leaf Green? Moral of the story? We had better be getting some lot reports from you brah and sisbrahs in the next few months because there is some music to be seen.
Speaking of lot reports, we got a fresh lot report from our good friend and part-time Ocelot @zippyhybrid. We met this cat and his girl at Fest8 and they are good people. Zippy is hitting us up from the NYE Yonder Mountain show.
All in all? We have so much to dwell on from last year but even more ahead of us this year. Happy 2010 kids! See you on lot!
Hey all, we’re back after a bit of a hiatus. Nick had to go off and get married and Steve was sans internet for a while. It’s all good now as Steve is joined on the podcast by two ladies. Laura is back and she brought our good friend Joanne. With all these sis-brahs on this show, we had to talk about typical female personalities on lot. We’ve got the heady mamas, we’ve got the flat brim girls, we’ve got ‘em all. Laura and Joanne weigh in on why wings should be banned from shows and why the greatest lot food ever sold was found in Hartford.
There was a ton of news to cover tonight: Umphreys McGee is getting all innovative on us, moe. isn’t touring for a while, the Biscuits are serving up some fried chicken and twitter hijinks, and Phish…we’ll, they’re still messing with us via their website.
Enjoy the episode tonight! Nick will be back next week to fill us in on how he kept his wedding wook-free. (Hint: it involved candles made of unicorn blood.)
First up we have a recap of the summer with our guest, Pete from PhanArt. He talks about his adventures on tour and what the scene has evolved into these days.
Next up an update to guilty pleasures. We talk around what does it mean if your favorite band actually wins a guilty pleasure contest, is that really a good thing?
Next up we reveal the results of the last weeks poll!
Finally as always we finish up with your voicemails, thanks for the feedback everyone! Keep it coming and remember a wook in the hand is worth 3 on your couch.
Is MySpace the wook of the internet? You be the judge. There’s some good points…and some bad points. In this episode we discuss the stream of Phish’s new album Joy released on MySpace before you can buy it. We talk around all aspects of this with our guest host Neil “The Joker” from CoventryMusic blog.
We also discuss the NPR radio interview of Trey and Page, specifically their comments on how they realize the hardcore fan base doesn’t fully support the albums. They (Trey & Page) also make comments about how you have to see Phish live to really “get” their music.
Next up we discuss the “Guilty Pleasures” NCAA bracket style music show run by Entertainment Weekly. Phish is currently up against Mariah Carey, it should be noted that PT (Phantasy Tour) is largely responsible for their first victory taking out a #1 seed Nickelback.
We encourage and love feedback so of course we listen to and respond to the messages we received. There’s a visit from Stephen Hawking, the broseph discussing wook hate, the Joy leak, and a guy just looking for a ride to the next show.
Come join us next week as we leave the open question to you the listener. What’s your favorite lot? Tell us the what/where/why of your favorite lot and we’ll discuss next week. Also our friend Tij will be the guest host next week so look forward to a fresh face.
One more thing, we’re going to start randomly putting out WookWednesday podcasts, just little tidbits of how a wook/wookette can ultimately ruin a random day.
Friend us on Foursquare. Your hosts will be checking in at the shows they hit, and leaving tips at venues, hotels, and more. Foursquare is a great way to see what's happening in any given location, and we got you guys covered on the Jamband scene.
Keeping with the times of 2007, we decided to add a Facebook fan page. Keep up to date with all of our happenings: episodes, photos, live stream, links, etc.

DIY Merch
Want to rock some TWoL stickers or merch? That would be great, but as of now we don't have any funds or resources to hook you guys up (unless you see us on lot, then we might have some stickers).
Not to worry, there is a solution. We have no problem with anyone downloading the logo and using it however you see fit. Get some sticker paper at Walmart. Print some labels at Staples. Grab some "Iron-On" T-Shirt transfers. Upload the image to Cafepess and make a mouse pad. It's really up to you. We appreciate the free advertising and have no doubt you will look fly in that TWoL hoodie.
