TWoL 87: SSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Listen to Episode 87

Rocky Mountain high, Colobrahdo.  I think it’s safe to say we’re all on a high after the weekend’s tour closers in Colorado.  This week’s show title is not only a nod to the “S” show on September 2nd, but it also stands for Steve Squared since that’s who we have on the mics this go round.  S2 share their thoughts on the streams, from quality and connectivity to how they actually enjoyed them.  Sounds like Uno had the more epic watching party.

With all the raging that went down at Dick’s this past weekend we can’t believe there was not one single voicemail.  Come on!  You guys know we sit by the phone eagerly awaiting each call.  Ok, maybe not, but we do look forward to hearing from the field.  You gotta call in the lot reports!

In the news this week, Umph is about to tear down NYC with a 4 night run at Brooklyn Bowl.  Despite its very Brooklyn crowd, BK Bowl is one of TWoL’s favorite venues.  I mean, bowling and live music?  Duh!

Earlier in the year we reported that Langerado was ready to get back on the horse, but as it turns out that horse won’t run.  With very little details actually know at this time, they have released a statement simply saying that they’ve had to cancel the fest for this year and refunds would be available.  Bummer.

In two other tidbits, a “lost” Jon Fishman interview surfaced in CO this weekend.  A freelance writer submitted it to the Denver Westword as a new interview, but it turns out it was a Relix interview from 1996.

KDTU is getting in on some musical costume action this fall, announcing an October run that will have them covering the classic Rolling Stones album “Sticky Fingers.”  The tour will feature members of Slightly Stoopid as well as a show with Rose Hill Drive where RHD will cover “Who’s Next” by The Who.  Funktacular.

Finally this week, we start a new piece titled “What I learned this summer.”  While escaping hurricane Irene at a festival, Toonces put down some thoughts to wrap up the summer season.  Look for our other hosts to share their insights in upcoming episodes.

Have a great week and GO SEE LIVE MUSIC!!!

TWoL 48: GTL – Gym > Tanning > Lot

Listen to Episode 48

Phish Fall Tour 2010 is in full swing and so are the setlists and lot scenes! Utica seems to be the hit show so far but as I’m typing this the Manchester setlist is rolling in and it sounds like we might have a new leader.

Everyone is getting pumped up for the Halloween weekend and the TWoL crew is no exception. All 3 of us will be at the AC run and we plan on throwing down with the best of ‘em! Of course… come to our meet-up.

Steve managed to hit up a few shows this tour, some tickets were tougher than you would think. Our advice for Phish 3.0 Fall Tour = if it’s a weekend show make sure you get a ticket ahead of time. Oh and whatever you do take care of your shoes.

In non Phish news, unfortunately moe. had to cancel their October 30th show due to some personal family issues. We wish them all the best and hope everything turns out ok. They have rescheduled the show for December 4th. For more details on the announcement check this link out.

We received a TON of voicemails this week and we played every single one on this episode. Thank you for everyone who left one, keep them coming! Don’t forget we will randomly select a few people who leave voicemails to win a copy of Touropoly! Thank you again to Touropoly for being this months sponsor!

We appreciate all of our fans, thank you for your support! We’ll see you this weekend in AC!

Special Report – Hartford 2010

Hey guys, here is a special lot report, recorded in front of a live studio audience on the Hartford VIP lot, 6/18/2010. We talk all things lot, what was happening at Hartford, and what we suspect in SPAC. It’s funny, it’s informative, it’s TWoL.

Keep us locked in iTunes as we will drop more reports as tour continues. And hit us up with all your lot reports, 419-NO-WOOKS.

TWoL 2: Stealing Time from the Faulty MySpace

Is MySpace the wook of the internet? You be the judge. There’s some good points…and some bad points. In this episode we discuss the stream of Phish’s new album Joy released on MySpace before you can buy it. We talk around all aspects of this with our guest host Neil “The Joker” from CoventryMusic blog.

We also discuss the NPR radio interview of Trey and Page, specifically their comments on how they realize the hardcore fan base doesn’t fully support the albums. They (Trey & Page) also make comments about how you have to see Phish live to really “get” their music.

Next up we discuss the “Guilty Pleasures” NCAA bracket style music show run by Entertainment Weekly.  Phish is currently up against Mariah Carey, it should be noted that PT (Phantasy Tour) is largely responsible for their first victory taking out a #1 seed Nickelback.

We encourage and love feedback so of course we listen to and respond to the messages we received. There’s a visit from Stephen Hawking, the broseph discussing wook hate, the Joy leak, and a guy just looking for a ride to the next show.

Here are the you tube videos we mentioned.

Come join us next week as we leave the open question to you the listener. What’s your favorite lot? Tell us the what/where/why of your favorite lot and we’ll discuss next week. Also our friend Tij will be the guest host next week so look forward to a fresh face.

One more thing, we’re going to start randomly putting out WookWednesday podcasts, just little tidbits of how a wook/wookette can ultimately ruin a random day.

Thank you for listening.

TWoL 1: ‘Cause This Is Your Podcast, too!’

This week, Nick and Steve are joined by the Resident Noob, Laura. Starting off the show, we address the age old debate: is it ON lot or IN lot? Hell, it could even be AT lot or UNDER lot…right? The general consensus is that ON lot is the proper terminology. Thoughts?

Once we have that settled, it’s time to discuss the real news. PHISH! It was only a matter of time before Joy was leaked onto the interwebs and it dropped today. Steve, Nick, and Noob Laura discuss the ethics of pirating music, especially from our beloved boys from VT.

Next up, we’re looking ahead to New Years Eve. What’s a jam band fan to do when there are 5 nights of Bisco in Times Square or (presumably) 3 nights of Phish in sunny Miami. Are Umphrey’s or moe. playing? What’s a fan to do?

Moving on to our voicemails, we learn a valuable lesson about going to a second location with a wook. The Joker from Coventry Music Blog is also kind enough to educate us about “The Triple Play”, something which all three of us are more than happy to claim noob status on.

Wrapping it up with The Noob Corner, bringing back the discussion…When is a noob not a noob? Why is there so much to say about noobiness?

Hope you enjoy our first episode. Let us know what you think and we’ll see you on lot next week.

DIY Merch

Want to rock some TWoL stickers or merch? That would be great, but as of now we don't have any funds or resources to hook you guys up (unless you see us on lot, then we might have some stickers).

Not to worry, there is a solution. We have no problem with anyone downloading the logo and using it however you see fit. Get some sticker paper at Walmart. Print some labels at Staples. Grab some "Iron-On" T-Shirt transfers. Upload the image to Cafepess and make a mouse pad. It's really up to you. We appreciate the free advertising and have no doubt you will look fly in that TWoL hoodie.

PS: We'd love to see pics of any merch you make.
